Description

Loans for first-time home buyers: mortgage down payment assistance that also covers closing costs for eligible Illinois residents looking to purchase a home. Repayment of down payment portion of this loan is deferred or forgiven after set period of years, which varies by program. Offered in conjunction with 30-year fixed rate mortgage with affordable interest rate.

Must complete home ownership education program.

      Description

      Emergency rental assistance program (ILRPP) for Illinois homeowners who are unable to pay their rent due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Eligible Illinois residents can receive up to 15 months of assistance. Program launching on 5/17/21.

      Eligibility

      (1) Household resides in Illinois and rents their home as their main/primary residence, (2) Household behind on rent for at least 30 days,] (3) Household's total cross income cannot be more than 80% of Area Median Income (AMI) for its location, (4) Household must have experience a financial hardship directly or indirectly due to the pandemic, (5) Residents at risk of becoming homeless or losing housing stability, (6) Documentation required for both housing providers and tenants.

      (1) The housing provider must go to ilrpp.ihda.org and complete their sections of the application including all required documentation, (2) Tenant will then be emailed with instructions on how to complete their portion online and provides all requested documentation, (3) Questions about the program can be sent to: LegAffairs@ihda.org.
